Ukraine

Mediation in Ukraine was initiated more than 20 years ago. Under international assistance projects, mediation initially developed in areas of juvenile and restorative justice, and community mediation.

2008 can be considered the year of the birth of commercial mediation. Since then, the market for mediation services has developed gradually, but consistently. Mediation is applied in Ukraine in broader contexts, including: the resolution of corporate, land, intellectual property, and family business disputes, among others. Volunteer projects regarding children, school mediation projects, and mediation as a social service, are widely developed as well. There are also cases of mediation between state bodies and NGO’s, initiated through international projects, including those of USAID.
