Training in Mediation for Judges from Poland and Ukraine
On Oct. 1-4, 2023, Senior Fellows Katarzyna Przyłuska-Ciszewska and Monika Włodarczyk, with the support of the Weinstein International Foundation, in collaboration with the Polish section of GEMME, the European Association of Judges for Mediation, and the Polish ProMediation & ProWellness Foundation, will host a training for select judges from Poland and Ukraine on mediation.
Also participating in the training are Senior Fellows Galyna Eremenko from Ukraine, Judge Evgeni Georgiev from Bulgaria and Judge Srdan Simac from Croatia. WIF Board members, Judge Danny Weinstein (Ret.), Ambassador David Carden (Ret.) and Judge Rebecca Westerfield (Ret.), will also attend the trainer as speakers.
Polish and Ukrainian judges, selected for their leadership in mediation, will attend the multi-day training event near Cracow. The training is intended to provide knowledge and skills on both referrals to mediation and mediation sessions, including the techniques used by mediators to support the parties to settle their disputes. Participants also learned new wellness and mindfulness techniques to help alleviate stress.
In addition to providing a platform for the exchange of experiences and best practices, the training will also offer an important opportunity for participants to develop projects for future collaboration in support of the development of mediation in the region.
