Mediation in Hungary in Practice

In practice, mediation is more accepted and well known in family-law related matters than in the field of commercial dispute resolution.

In terms of the actual implementation and integration of mediation into Hungarian dispute resolution systems, it is important to note that in Hungary, court-annexed mediation functions efficiently. The successful institutionalization of court-annexed mediation directly contributes to the potential long-term acceptance and popularity of mediation in Hungarian society.

Indications of the growing appeal of mediation can be seen by the increase in private mediations. In addition, legislative support via the Hungarian Civil Code and Civil Procedure Code further support the development of mediation, as well as promote public awareness of amicable non-adversarial dispute resolution processes in Hungary.
