About Liliana Amione

Since 2021, Ms. Amione has served as Head of Program Quality and Appraisal at the International Mediation Institute (IMI), where she oversees the quality assurance and development of mediation training and assessment programs worldwide. Her responsibilities include evaluating applications, coordinating appraisals and re-appraisals, and leading efforts to expand IMI’s network, with a focus on Latin America. From 2022 to early 2025, she also served as Director of the Mediation Institute at the Rafaela Bar Association, appointed by the Bar Association’s Directory.

The Institute is dedicated to studying and researching mediation, organizing academic events for member training, establishing connections with similar academic entities, and providing expert opinions as requested by the Directory. In this role, she led initiatives to enhance mediation policy and practice, including contributing to reform proposals for the Mandatory Mediation Law in Santa Fe, Argentina.

Her ongoing research project, “Mediation as a Pathway to Tutela Judicial Efectiva: Rethinking Access to Justice in the Inter-American Human Rights System,” explores when and under what safeguards mediation can serve as a legitimate expression of effective judicial protection (tutela judicial efectiva) under the Inter-American framework. She presented this work at the AALS ADR Works-in-Progress Conference hosted by UC Law San Francisco (2025).
