Dimitra Triantafyllou is a certified mediator and practicing lawyer in Greece and Cyprus, with expertise in corporate, business, and commercial law and a specialization in the Southeast European Region. She is one of the first practicing mediators in Greece and Cyprus, listed in the public register for both countries.

Ms. Triantafyllou is an International Mediation Institute (IMI) certified mediator, an accredited family mediator, a certified international commercial arbitrator, a trained dispute resolution process and systems designer, and a deal facilitator at DELTAtotheEPSILON, a pioneering private dispute resolution provider. She provides advanced mediation and dispute resolution services, focused on pursuing a value-added outcome. She also consults with corporations and organizations in dispute prevention, conflict management, and setting up ADR processes and programs.

She trains professionals in the advanced use of mediation and negotiation techniques, including as part of TOOLKIT COMPANY (TC), a Dutch mediation and negotiation-training provider, which merges science with practice. Ms. Triantafyllou is one of the lead trainers of TC’s international trainers’ team.

Her enthusiasm for carrying out her multifaceted practice as a lawyer, an ADR neutral, and a trainer is reflected in her motto, “My business is to inspire change and to lead lawyers to become lawpreneurs of the 21st century; and my passion is to make the impossible possible.”

Litigation Practice

Ms. Triantafyllou qualified as a Greek lawyer in 1996 (Thessaloniki Bar, GR) and has been admitted to the Cyprus Bar since 2015 (Limassol Bar, CY).

Having been entrusted at the beginning of her career with the role of principal legal advisor to the largest winery and distillery in Greece with global exports, she very soon acquired a business-oriented legal mindset for making and saving deals.

Ms. Triantafyllou has represented large multinationals, national, and international corporations in litigation procedures before the Greek Courts regarding corporate, commercial, maritime, business and criminal law, as well as in the course of negotiations and advising clients in the closing of high-value business and M&A deals. She has advised construction companies and real estate developers for many years and has broad experience in real estate, property, finance, banking, and construction law.

Mediation Practice

Ms. Triantafyllou is the founding member of DELTAtotheEPSILON, a pioneering private dispute resolution provider in Greece. Since 2011, it has been a joint collaboration of experienced professionals and business people from the legal, business, maritime, and shipping fields, dedicated to instigating change in the way disputes are resolved.

Dimitra Triantafyllou provides ADR services as a neutral on the core team of cross-border co-mediation experts at Schonewille & Schonewille, a legal mediation firm in the Netherlands, specializing in negotiation and mediation processes.

Parallel to her mediation practice, Ms. Triantafyllou is committed to ongoing projects in the Mediterranean area:

  • The establishment and coordination of a Model Scientific Dispute Resolution Center for GSEVEE (the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen & Merchants) in Greece
  • The development and implementation of the first experimental court-connected pilot project at the Courts of Limassol in Cyprus, in cooperation with the Bar of Limassol and under the auspices of the Cyprus Bar and the Cyprus Ministry of Justice

ADR Achievements

  • Since adoption of the first Greek Law on Mediation (December 2010), Ms. Triantafyllou has actively engaged in the drafting of all relevant legislative presidential and ministerial decrees that complemented the law on mediation, in her capacity as a member of an ad-hoc legislation drafting committee established by the Hellenic Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights.
  • A member of the Hague – International Mediation Institute (IMI) Appraisal Committee that Qualifies Assessment Programs for mediators worldwide (since 2012)
  • Served as a member of IMI’s Task Force on Mediation Advocacy, formed in 2012 to set the standards and qualifications for mediation advocates
  • Awarded a Weinstein JAMS International Fellowship (2011)
  • Appointed for a three-year term as a regular member of the first Mediators Accreditation Committee at the Hellenic Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights
  • Participated as an ADR expert at many EU workshops and official round-tables as a delegate for Greece and as a representative for the Hellenic Ministry of Justice
  • Served as a liaison between the International Committee and the Membership Committee of the DR Section of the American Bar Association (ABA)
  • Besides being a founding member of the Hellenic Mediators Association, she also serves as a member at the scientific committee of O.P.E.M.E.D, an Organization for the promotion of Alternative Dispute resolution, established by an extensive number of many of the social stakeholders and institutional representatives of Greece.
  • Has been interviewed by the Greek legal magazine Synigoros (Advocate) and has been featured in its honoring section “Unknown aspects of our well-known people”

ADR Teaching and Mentoring

  • As a TOOLKIT COMPANY (TC) international trainer, Ms. Triantafyllou has served as the lead trainer at Piraeus Mediation Center (PMC), jointly established by the Bar of Piraeus and the Chambers of Piraeus, where she has contributed to the establishment of the first Greek-speaking mediation-training program authorized by the Hellenic Ministry of Justice and internationally recognized. She has trained a substantial number of the first accredited mediation trainers, some of whom later participated in the establishment of various mediation-training centers throughout the country.
  • She is frequently invited to speak at universities, conferences and seminars and has addressed lectures in Europe, the U.S. and Asia.
  • She has trained some of the highest-ranking governmental officials and organizational officials, members of the Parliament, a team of retired Supreme Court judges, including Presidents of the Supreme Administrative Court and the Supreme Civil and Criminal Court.
  • One of her first trained mediators and mediation trainers was awarded a Weinstein JAMS International Fellowship (2015).
  • Her latest activities in the pursuit of promoting mediation include her contribution as a Toolkit lead trainer and a training program advisor in the establishment of two mediation training centers authorized by the Hellenic Ministry of Justice in regional Greece: “The Patreas” Mediation Center established by the Bar of Patras in the area of Peloponnese and the “Cretan Mediation Center” jointly established by the Bar of Chania, the Bar of Rethymnon, and the Chambers of Chania in the island of Crete.
