SHERIF ELNEGAHY

Senior Fellow – Egypt

Hon. Dr. Sherif Elnegahy is an international mediator on the UN Global Mediation Panel, a Chief Judge in the Egyptian Judiciary, and a consultant for mediation and dispute resolution affairs to a number of organizations and governments, including the Saudi Ministry of Justice. Dr. Elnegahy is also a visiting professor at several law schools, where he teaches law and mediation courses.

About Sherif Elnegahy

Hon. Dr. Sherif Elnegahy is an international mediator on the UN Global Mediation Panel, a Chief Judge in the Egyptian Judiciary, and a consultant for mediation and dispute resolution affairs for a number of organizations and governments, including the Saudi Ministry of Justice. Hon. Dr. Elnegahy is also a visiting professor at several law schools, such as The British University in Egypt and Strathclyde University, United Kingdom, where he teaches law and mediation courses.

Hon. Dr. Elnegahy holds his Ph.D. in mediation from Strathclyde University, United Kingdom, his LL.M. in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University School of Law, USA, and his LLB from Ain Shams University, Egypt.

Hon. Dr. Elnegahy is a Fulbright scholar and recipient of the Chevening Award, in addition to a Rotary Peace and JAMS Weinstein Fellowship.

Hon. Dr. Elnegahy has trained judges from Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other countries, on how to use mediation in the court system. He has taught and presented on mediation, law, and justice in many countries, including the USA, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italy, Egypt, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. He is co-author of one of the first mediation books in the Arabic language and has recently published the very first Arabic-English dictionary of mediation and negotiation terms.

Dr. Elnegahy has acted as a mediator, co-mediator and shadowed more than 500 cases at the following institutions: Cairo Economic Court (Egypt), Glasgow Sheriff Court (Scotland, U.K.), Los Angeles Superior Court, Alternative Dispute Resolution Department (USA), Santa Monica Superior Court (USA), American Arbitration Association (AAA) (USA), Arbitration Mediation Conciliation Center (USA) and at JAMS offices in California and New York.
