Farjana Yesmin has served as a judicial officer and trial judge since her appointment to the Bangladesh judiciary as an assistant judge in 2008.
Judge Yesmin is currently a Joint District and Sessions Judge in Pirojur, where among other duties, she is responsible for hearing appeals from the lower courts, many of which arise under the Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act, 2010 and Dowry Prohibition Act, 1980. As part of her judicial service, she is committed to promoting dispute resolution procedures during the appellate process, in order to assist vulnerable women litigants, whose cases are pending in the courts.
She was the first woman to have been appointed Deputy Registrar in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, where she facilitated the coordination between the Supreme Court, the Ministry of Justice, and other stakeholders regarding the implementation of judicial initiatives that promoted the development of dispute resolution processes in connection with the judiciary.
Judge Yesmin has been committed to changing the Bangladeshi legal regime by advancing the resolution of disputes through her daily work in judicial service, since 2008.
