Anjezë Gojani is a legal advisor and in-house counsel and has previously worked for government agencies, including the justice, commercial and ADR, and recently, healthcare sectors.

She is currently working in the energy sector, leading the legal and compliance component for an electricity supply and trading company.

She participated in the review of the legal and regulatory framework of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Health, particularly regarding the functional review process of the justice sector, and the initiative for the restructuring of the State Advocacy Office, responsible for defending the government in international litigation and arbitration.

Ms. Gojani held the position of Secretary General at the first established institutional arbitration center in the country, the Kosovo Permanent Tribunal of Arbitration. She subsequently assumed the same role for the Alternative Dispute Resolution Center within the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo. While serving in these roles, Ms. Gojani was part of the effort to establish the procedural and regulatory basis for the functioning of institutional arbitration and mediation practice in Kosovo, paving the way for their consequent development.

Ms. Gojani recently completed work on the development of a national communication roadmap for foreign investors and State institutions as part of an international project implement in Kosovo. This roadmap is intended for use by the Kosovo government as a tool towards reducing exposure to international investment arbitration.

ADR Achievements and Training

  • Awarded a Weinstein JAMS International Fellowship (2018)
  • Trained in investment law and arbitration at the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment, Joint Center of Columbia Law School and the Earth Institute, Columbia University, New York (2018)
  • As the Secretary General of two arbitration centers, managed arbitration and mediation cases. Her work also involved thorough legal analyses of disputes, and all administrative actions regarding the constitution of arbitral tribunals, as well as the handling of communications between the parties and the members of the arbitral tribunal (2011-2017)
  • Conducted extensive outreach work with all ADR stakeholders in Kosovo (2011-2017)
  • Initiated the process and publication of the first law journal in alternative dispute resolution in the country, and was a member of the Editorial Board for three consecutive years (2015-2017)
  • Kick-started the first edition of the Arbitration Academy for students and young professionals (2017)
  • Member of Experienced Young Practitioners of the DELOS Guide to Arbitration Places, contributing to the editorial review of country chapters (2017 – current)
  • Trained in different ADR programs, including a program provided by the Asser Institute/Center for European and International Law in the Netherlands (2013)
  • Awarded the National Prize for Justice “Sali Ceku,” by the Government of Kosovo and the Ministry of Justice (2012)

ADR Teaching and Mentoring

  • As the Secretary General of the ADR Centre within the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo:
  • Ms. Gojani has delivered trainings and workshops on commercial mediation and arbitration, targeting the legal community in Kosovo.
  • She has organized workshops on mediation and arbitration, with the aim of raising awareness of business executives regarding ADR and the options it offers.
  • She lectured on international arbitration procedure at the Kosovo Arbitration Academy, with the goal of educating law students as prospective arbitrators and mediators.
  • Served as an arbitrator in the First and Third Annual Western Balkans Vis Pre-Moot Competition in Pristina
  • Coached the University of Pristina team for the First and Second Draft Common Frame of Reference, Warsaw International Arbitration Moot

Publications

  • Ms. Gojani was a member of the Editorial Board of the Kosovo national journal on ADR related topics, Journal of Alternative Dispute Resolution in Kosovo.
  • She continuously writes articles for law journals and magazines, national and international.
  • She is a co-author featured in Integration and International Dispute Resolution in Small States, a recent book published by Springer.
  • Her research on the Kosovo bilateral investment treaties and the foreign investment law, under the title “Foreign Investment Protection in Kosovo,” has published in the Transnational Dispute Management Journal.

Ms. Gojani’s most recent work on “The Newly Introduced Pricing Policy of Medicinal Products in Kosovo: Addressing the Silent Treatment” has been published in the EPLR European Pharmaceutical Law Review.
